What is Panchakarma?

Panchakarma is Ayurveda's supreme bio-purification and cellular detoxification system comprising five distinct therapeutic procedures.

Over time, poor dietary habits, stress, sedentary lifestyle, and weak digestive fire (Mandaagni) lead to the accumulation of metabolic toxins (Ama) in the microchannels (Srotas) of the body.

Panchakarma systematically mobilizes these deep-seated toxins from peripheral tissues back into the gastrointestinal tract, from where they are safely eliminated.

At Chiraayu Ayurveda Hospital, Panchakarma is conducted under the strict supervision of senior Ayurvedic physicians with individualized pre-purification (Purvakarma), main purification (Pradhanakarma), and post-therapy rejuvenation (Paschatkarma) protocols.

Our custom in-house medicated oils, herbal decoctions, and dietary plans ensure a deeply rejuvenating and clinically effective detox.

Key Pillars of Care at Chiraayu:

  • Deep cellular detoxification across 5 classical therapeutic pathways
  • Strengthens digestive metabolism (Jatharagni) & gut microbiome
  • Tailored Purvakarma (Snehana & Swedana) preparatory therapies
  • Promotes long-term immunity, tissue regeneration (Rasayana) and vitality

Step-by-Step Diagnostic & Treatment Protocol

Our clinicians combine classical Ayurvedic methodology with modern precision imaging at every phase of care.

Step 1

Purvakarma (Preparatory Therapies)

Before the main detox, toxins must be loosened and liquefied from deep tissues through internal and external lubrication.

Core preparatory steps:

  • Deepana-Pachana: Herbal appetizers to kindle Agni and digest Ama
  • Snehana: Internal oleation with medicated ghee and whole-body Abhyanga oil massage
  • Swedana: Medicated herbal steam therapy to open peripheral sweat channels
Prepares the cellular microchannels so toxins can glide effortlessly toward the digestive tract without stressing vital organs.
Step 2

Pradhanakarma (The Five Core Elimination Therapies)

Depending on your constitutional dosha imbalance and health objective, one or more specific purification procedures are administered.

The Five Procedures (Pancha-Karma):

  • Vamana: Therapeutic therapeutic emesis for Kapha-predominant respiratory and skin disorders
  • Virechana: Medicated purgation for Pitta disorders, liver detox, and chronic skin conditions
  • Basti: Medicated enema therapy (Anuvasana & Niruha) for Vata disorders and gut rehabilitation
  • Nasya: Herbal nasal oil administration for ENT, neurological, and stress relief
  • Raktamokshana: Regulated blood purification for localized vascular/skin impurities

Basti – The Master of Panchakarma

Basti is described as Ardha Chikitsa (half of all medical treatments) in Ayurveda because it directly balances Apana Vata, rejuvenates the colon microflora, and heals systemic inflammatory conditions.

Step 3

Paschatkarma (Restorative Rejuvenation & Diet)

Following elimination, the digestive fire is gently nurtured back to peak strength with graduated nutrition (Samsarjana Krama) and rejuvenative herbal rasayanas.

Key post-care components:

  • Graduated diet: Starting from thin rice water (Peya) to wholesome nourishing meals
  • Daily lifestyle and circadian rhythm alignment (Dinacharya & Ritucharya)
  • In-house prepared Rasayana tonics for immunity and vitality
Ensures sustained rejuvenation and prevents the re-accumulation of metabolic toxins.
